Crowns & Bridges

Chipped, cracked, and broken teeth not only affect your overall self-confidence, but can also have an impact on your overall oral health. In addition to detracting from your appearance, these dental problems can lead to cavities, gum disease, and other significant issues.

At Premier Dental, our team is pleased to offer you all the options you need to restore your smile to a healthy disease-free state. We specialize in high-quality restorative treatments like dental crowns and bridges that are designed to look completely natural and last for many years.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is used to restore function and esthetics to a tooth that has been damaged by decay, disease, or dental trauma. Crowns are also sometimes referred to as caps because they encase your tooth to strengthen and protect it from further damage.

Some cases where we may recommend placement of a dental crown are:
•    Filling a large tooth cavity or following root canal therapy
•    Repairing teeth with cracks or other damage
•    Restoring a dental implant
•    Concealing severely stained or discolored teeth
•    Building up poorly shaped or misaligned teeth
•    Replacing an existing crown that is worn, broken, or unattractive

There are a number of materials that can be used to create a crown. In the majority of cases, we choose porcelain because it is durable and can be shaded to closely match existing tooth structure. But gold and porcelain-fused to metal are other excellent options that we can choose, based on your needs.

Before we place your crown, we use dental lasers to gently contour the gum around the tooth for a perfect, natural-looking fit. The result is a restoration that is functional, durable, and enhances your beautiful smile.

Bridges

A dental bridge is a restoration that fills the empty space remaining after a tooth is lost. Bridges are made up of an artificial tooth that we secure to adjacent teeth with dental crowns.

Missing teeth need to be replaced because the loss of even one tooth can lead to a number of oral health problems. When a tooth is missing, surrounding teeth can drift out of place, leaving you with misaligned teeth and problems with your dental bite.

Dental bridges are effective because they offer many solutions:
•    Filling the space left by a missing tooth
•    Preventing shifting of surrounding teeth
•    Providing a permanent alternative to a removable partial denture

A well-made dental bridge is securely attached to existing teeth, making it very stable. In certain situations, we may recommend that a dental implant be used to support the bridge for maximum strength and functionality.
